I feel bad for my dog...

Snova -
My much beloved late Great Dane, towards the end of her tenure in our family, exhibited issues very much the same as what you've described. Every now and again she'd wake up from a nap and one or both of her back legs would act as if it wasn't accepting input from her brain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Our vet prescribed Rimadyl to her. It would clear up pretty quickly but once she was off the meds for awhile the symptoms would return.

Ask your vet if that (this particular medication) may be applicable to the problems your dog is experiencing.

Good luck getting it sorted out.

The vet said that the joint on his back leg was popping when he moved it...he said it's a sprain, and will take a little time to heal. Said that him being a little overweight (he's 27lbs, he was 20 when we got him), plus there's hair that's covering the pads on his paws, which causes him to slip (pretty much our whole first floor is wood with polyurethane, so it's slippery), factored into his leg being hurt.

That sucks, I hate it when animals start get hurt they always seem so helpless.

My cat had to be put down on Sunday. We woke up and found her on her back on the staircase landing. He legs were moving a mile a minute and she couldnt stop them. She was completely unresponsive as if she was unconcious, we dont know how long she had been like that. Vet determined it was either a seizure or a stroke, I assumed it was a stroke because of the loss of nerves, she was 14 quite a long life for a kitty.

Get an x-ray... Could be a back problem. My grandma's dog had a misaligned back and the vertebre fused misalinged (it was a real young dog), so he required like a 5000 dollar surgery and painkillers/supplements for the rest of it's life. If it's a purebred from say a breeder, they tend to have these kinds of problems. THey get considerably worse in the cold.

Happened to my cat too, he lived for awhile but he couldn't walk very well and no longer recognized any of us so we put him down. Saddest shit ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Yeah I wasnt a happy camper myself, I love animals

Man, sorry to hear about your dog. I know how it feels as my dog is 11 now and not doing well at all. Her back hips are fused together and her front paws are almost completley flat like a foot on a human. She still makes an effort to get around, but can tell that she is great pain. All she does anymore is sleep next to who ever is home. I think her time is coming soon, but I dont want to think like that. She was such a good dog.

I hope yours gets well and can live alot longer making you and your family happy. Good luck!

got a question, how do you make a dog stop pee-ing in the house, and go out for walks? cuz mine is stubborn.
Keep it on a schedule.

My dogs go pee right when they wake up and right when they go to bed.

Never had a problem unless someone didnt take them out.

I'll yank my dog from its chair if she is stubborn and wont go for a walk.

me and my girl have a golden retriever (dallas) he is about 10 years old now and his hind legs are getting very bad. when he lays down he has alot of trouble getting back up and he can just about run anymore. if too much strain is put on his legs he just falls over and stares at you wit this sad *** face. just recentley he started to have seizures especially when overly excited! he is a good dog who loves to play all the time i just feel bad cuz he is getting old and losing his mobility!

my dog was actually limping after a few seizures here and there. She's actually pretty fine now, the limping is near to nonexistant. My dog is old though, like really old, she's on her last few years (maybe months) and all she does now is laydown and sleep, doesn't run around alot anymore. Sigh...
