I dont get it...

So, I came to this forum asking in another thread how to (using my P6001bd) downsize my 2, Punch 12 HE's to a single sub setup.

You guys recommended a RE SE 12.

So I got that for $99 on sale and installed it today in a cheapo $23 1.25cu sealed box.

Now I have someone making me a nice ported 2.0cu box tuned to 30hz for it...but that one $99 sub sounds better than those 2 12's EVER did...on the same amp.

My question, with stuff like this out there...what keeps people buying the insanely overpriced crap from the big name vendors? (Obviously excluding stuff like the top of the line W7, L7 stuff).

I'm just flat amazed at what this ONE 12 inch...$99 sub can do...and its not even in a good box yet!

you answered your own question.. most people think jl's are goddess because their friends have it or when a person walks into a shop ready to blow a shitload thats all the employee tells them

I blame Best Buy. They don't sell anything that great. Plus it's all overpriced.

i disagree. i can agree that a W7 isn't worth 1000$, but it is still as good as any sub out there. it doesn't blow away everyone, but it is of higher quality than, say an alpine type R. the FI Q doesn't blow the W7 away, or vise versa. price is the only issue with JL for me. the W6 is one of my favorite subs.

The most powerful sub best buy sells is a Power Acoustik 10" D4 piece of crap. It says 600 wrms, but I bet it sounds like crap and will burn out easily. Plus the prefab boxes all **** compared to a custom box.
