I could use some help picking classes for next semester...

As the clock ticks down, I need to start thinking about next semester.

This semester (first semester) I only took 12 credits...

I took MAC 1105, ENC 1101, MUL1010 and MUL2380 (College Algebra, English 101, Music Appreciation, Jazz & American Popular Music Appreciation, respectfully.)

I'm going for my AA in EE.

So far, next semester I have CHM1045, CHM1045L, MAC1147 and SPN1120. (14 credits. The maximum is 17.)

Now, I know I can do the CLEP test for Pre-Cal. But, I'm not really sure if I should. I might learn more if I actually take the class rather than cramming for the test.

As you can tell, I have my Humanities Covered. I need communications (3 credits), Oral Communication (3 credits), Behavioral Science (6 credits), Natural Science (6 credits), Gen Ed Elective (3 credits), and 24 credits of electives.

I plan on taking either 2 or 3 CLEP tests this semester, and 2 or 3 the next. (If 3 the first, 2 the second. If 2 the first, 3 the second. So I can get my necessary 60 credits by next Fall).

I want to try to leave most of the classes that aren't for my major to CLEP tests.

Anyone mind shedding some light and guiding me a bit? I'm not sure which classes I should take. I have to take Chemistry, regardless. As well as Spanish. Since I never took it in High School.

I tried to talk to an adviser at my school, but they were too busy. Or they didn't believe I had the capability of taking 17 credits + doing CLEP tests. So they just kind of brushed me off. Hence, I come to you guys since I know a lot of you have gone through College / are in College.

Just curious, why not the BS?
Like I said in the OP, I didn't take 2 years of language in High School...

No State School would think about accepting me with out it... even though I had stellar SAT scores and a great GPA. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i missed early registration for next semester so now i have to wait til jan 6 to do late and all the good classes will be gone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Heh. I did early registration. I wrote essays so well that all of my English teachers I've ever had were impressed and couldn't correct it.

Like, I worked decently hard (I could've worked harder, of course.) throughout high school, but I just neglected the two years of foreign language 'cause I guess I never thought about it... and, no school would accept me with a 1470 SAT and a 3.4 unweighted 4.1 weighted GPA.

I'm surprised the high school would let you graduate with that.

I suffered through three years of French, one of those experiences I never want to do again...maybe if I learn a language for myself, sure, but that wasn't it...

Maf is hawd?
I actually love math. I'm really good at it. Always have been. I'm just at a CC now, transferring to a University ASAP. Hence why I want to try to get my AA before The Fall.

Will they let you take classes in Summer A and Summer B?

Hell I had about 8 years of ebonics. Doesn't your school have advisers?
They aren't good at all. As I said in my OP (Reading > You), they just didn't believe I could do it, so brushed me off and didn't waste their time on me. One just wrote down a list of classes and told me to take them. Not even talk to me about it or anything. I walked in, told him I wanted to major in EE, and he just wrote down classes on a post-it and that was it.

Well what the hell do you want from ca.com?

Quite a few people that are interested in CA have degrees in EE. I was asking what classes should I actually attend and which I should CLEP out of (AKA Wont' really need in the future for my major.)

You've never taken calc?

Math skills are important, yes, but anything under calc is pretty much assumed as a given for a BSEE track at an engineering school...I'd test out of what I could in order to get to Calc I/II as soon as possible. Then you've got engineering-level chem, physics, differential equations, etc...
