I have a pair of infinity perfect 12.1's, and i am having a shop that i do work with buld me a box for free, and my question is this, what kind of box should i go with? ported, or sealed, from what i have heard sealed is a sq setup, and ported is spl, i want a high sq setup with some loudness, also, i have heard you can make ported boxes sound really nice, suggestions?

Thanks alot,

sealed boxes is for SQ yes but ported boxes can have good or bad SQ depending on how u tune it. Tune low for SQ anywhere from 25-30hz. 30-35hz for good SQ and more SPL and 35hz+ for spl.

When I started doing car audio I thought ported was the only way to go. Since then I have learned a lot and now live by sealed boxes for the sole reason of sound quality. The difference between sealed and ported is only 3 decibels. A sealed box sounds tighter, and it will play higher frequancies than a ported box. No offense to ported lovers, I would run ported if I was looking for spl.
