I changed my factory alt to a 130a alt

I just changed it today and it it made my voltage drop even worse. With my old factory alt, it used to drop to 11.9. With this new 130a alt, it drops to 11.5.... wtf?

Whats wrong?

try revving the engine... maybe it puts out more amps at a higher engine speed...

tried that.... its also kind of slow when charging back up again.

be glad you didn't just pay 400 bucks for a 95a alt like i did today...

I got it from ebay for $89 plus shipping. It's from a company. They posted another one after I bought one from them.

I still have a year warranty with that company. Plus he has a 100% feedback.

Well, I found the problem. I took my car to autozone to check my new alternator.

The alternator only put out 39.6 amps at 2000 rpm. So, I guess its bad. I even spent $30 to get it installed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I'm not sure if it's the case with yours, but most "high output" alternators don't put out that much at idle, and in most cases, much less than stock. I would see if you could rev it up slightly and see what it puts out at around 2000 rpms.

i hear alot of times u need to put a smaller belt on...email them and ask if that's the case with theres.

When buying a H/O alternator the "amps @ idle" is an important thing...my H/O alternator is a 260amp, but is 170amp @ idle...cost $369

So, you pretty much got what you paid for
