ok i got it.. ok first fill the

5 gallon jug ---pour the 5 gallon jun into the 3 gallon jug now u have 2 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug-----now empty(dump ) out the 3 gallon jug--now pour the 5 gallon jug in the 3 gallon jug .. now you have 2 gallons of water in the 3 gallon jug....now fill the 5 gallon jug and pour in into the 3 gallon jug and TADA-- u have 4 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug

wow....it was actually easier once you do it...
