like the title says, the beer and fast food has taken a toll on me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. I'm not really looking to build muscle, just trying to get into shape. Any tips? Anything i should take? I'm about 5"7 and just over 200lbs.

 
well when i lost a lot of weight last time i started with jogging 1/4 mile then walk jog one again and repeat till the mile then slowly increase you distance. as to gain weight drink weight gainer and you will put pounds on fast.

 
try water aerobics as well. they have whats called aqua swimmer its like a life jacket that's actually a weight. Using that vest will not only act as walking but with 0 impact and moving thru the water will be twice as much work on the body and faster results with little to no strain on the body. Best thing to do if you want to shed a few pounds. In fact that's what I'm doing myself. Lost about 10 pounds in the first two weeks (along with cutting the fast food and soda) try swimming it is really a form of exercise that is less traveled and is the best for you.

 
I exercise everyday with 45-60 min of cardio and then 45 min of weights. Usually start with the cardio first to get my heart rate up and then finish it off with the anarobic.

Your diet is probably just as important as exercise. Stop drinking soda, coffee, beer, or any juice with high concentrations of sugar. Eat smaller more frequent meals with less processed wheats/sugars in them. Finally eat early, I try not to eat anything after 7:00 at night.

Thus far I'm down almost 30lbs in 3.5 months. My goal is to lose another 15 lbs by end of year.

 
cardio.. If you dont like running then hop on the elliptical. (my knees cant handle running over a couple miles so I do elliptical) Get HR up to 145-155 and maintain. Or do intervals. Drop the fast food, drink water. Never drink your calories!

No, theres no magic pill to take to shed weight. If there was, everyone would be skinny!

 
Chicken and exercise is always the best way. Don't eat till your your full eat till your satisfied and stick with chicken breast and turkey drink at least a half gallon of water a day.

Running one mile a day even at a slow jog doing 50 sit ups and 50 pushups while eating just a bit healthier will make a big difference over a couple months.
