MOST OF YOU IN HEAR ARE PRO'S AT THIS STUFF, SO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE FUK IS GOING ON IN MY CAR

MY HEAD UNIT (BOTH THE RADIO AND CD PLAYER) KEEPS CUTTING OUT AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF PLAYING AND IT WILL NOT COME BACK ON. I HAVE THE ALPINE CDA 7893 WHICH IS ABOUT 7 MONTHS OLD. I HAD IT INSTALLED AT TWEETER, BUT I DON'T WANT TO TAKE IT BACK THERE B/C MY WARRANTY WAS UP AT 6 MONTHS AND I AM NOT GOING TO PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU GUYS CAN PROBABLY HELP ME WITH.

CAN YOU GUYS TELL ME WHAT MIGHT CAUSE THIS AND HOW I CAN FIX IT. OTHERWISE I AM GOING TO PULL THE FUKING THING OUT AND RUN OVER IT THEN PICK IT UP AND SLAM IT ON THE GROUND A COUPLE TIMES!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

THANKS

They should have a lifetime warranty on install. Take it back and tell them what's going on. If it is an install issue, they will take care of it for free. If it is the head unit, I'm pretty sure Alpine has better than a 6 month warranty. If you bought the head unit at Tweeter, again they sould take care of it for you. Either way it doesn't hurt to go there and ask.

how long does it take for it to turn back on?

im guessing you probably have v-drive enabled on that unit. if it is, look by the battery up front and make sure you have a good secure/tight connection.

first off there was no reason for the language or the caps, dont do that again. now....i would probably agree with mattj that the vdrive is running, which (i belive) is just a secondary power in order to crank more power out of the head unit, chances are it is either overheating due to a poor ground or a problem in the head unit, or mabey just shutting off due to a lack of power....mabey matt can elaborate on prroblems you may be having with the v-drive (i dont have an personal expierence with it).

i had the same reciever and had the same problem. the internal amp is overheating. i returned it about a month after purcasing it. you cant crank the gains on these headunits man because those v-drive amps will cut-off on you quite freqently. especially if its warm outside. i bought the 7892 because it was cheap, i care little about features, and because im going to add an external amp. i would trade it in for an alpine without that v-drive amp. there are higher and lower models without it. good luck.

Apologies for the caps, but i was really getting pissed off at the time.

My shit still keeps cutting out. I haven't taken it to Tweeter yet, b/c i thought I would console ya'lls advice first. and by the way, thanks for helping me.

To update, I redid the connection to the battery with the wires and that didn't work.

My HU cuts off when it gets extremely hot! and it won't come back on until the whole unit cools down. So that is the main reason why it shuts off!

My final request to ya'll is this, I have no amp powering my speakers yet ($$ issues and being lazy!) however, if i get an amp to power the speakers and turn off the amp that is in the HU, will that keep the HU from shutting off all the time since the v drive will no longer need to power my speakers?? if this will work, i will get off my lazy *** and go get one. I want to make sure this idea will work before I get an amp or take it to tweeter. tweeter is just so far away from my house that is why i come to you guys for help.
