ok so im brand new to the whole car audio scene and i see people sayin 4 cubes at 33 Hz.. does this mean that you set the amp at 33 Hz? because sometimes it seems like you guys are saying that you're setting a box at 33 Hz?

please inform me.

If the box is ported, the length and size of the port determines the tuning of the enclosure. There is no setting on the amp for 33 hz.

So if you have a 1 cube box and want to tune it to 35 hz with a 3 in. circular port it needs to be 13". If you want to tune the box lower, the length of the port has to increase.

The tuning of the box depends PURELY on the application, driver (The sub), and the type of music. You can't just say 'tune it to 33' with out knowing the details...

However, when you 'tune' a box to a specific frequency, which makes the sub most efficient at that frequency. You can't explain it any further with out getting into details of pressure and sound waves...

This is done when you design the box and involves mathematical formulas and the like.

so i guess i want to get a decent priced pre-fab box... i listen to metal.. someone told me sealed is better for that type of music.. is that correct?
