I find this concept VERY interesting. I'm currently majoring in acoustic engineering at Ohio University, and I've done several papers on the use of hypersonic soundwaves as both a means of advertising and as a non-lethal restraint. What's not mentioned in that snippet is that similar technology is already at work in your own town. Stores like Wal-Mart, Target and many others use non-audible subliminal messages to control shoplifting and to promote impulse buying. Have you ever walked into a store and suddenly had an urge to buy something you'd never think of buying? Chances are, you've been influienced by this technology. It's not exactly an ethical way of conducting business in my opinion, but if it works, it works.
