Huge fan of Hifonics till.....

I have no idea what this thread is asking
I'd say, he was voicing his displeasure on the rating of some of the HiFonics amps...

Frequency response: 35-250 Hz

I'm guessing that he does not like the fact that HF, says their amps will do XXXX Watts @ xxHZ - xxxHz and he is not happy with the bang for the buck??? I'm just guessing thats what he meant...

I think he said it twice...

True but wouldn't you amp have to be capable of reproducing the frequencies sent from the source?
I would think each component (Head Unit, EQ, X-over, AMP, Speaker)would have its range of frequencies that can reproduce and produce at its rated specs...

Even the Mighty Sundown amps list their Frequency response

2000D 10Hz~350Hz (+/- 1dB)

125.2 10Hz ~ 40KHz (+/-1dB)

I would think if you fed a 2000D, say 5HZ, (I know I can't hear it) it would either not produce it, or it would do it at way less power than what the amp is rated, because, thats the way its designed...

(not bashing Sundown, at all... Just illistrating my point... That and I had a tab open to Sundown Audio's Website, so the info was at hand..)

LMAO! The amp will reproduce 20hz freq., although i can't say why 20hz is that important to you. Do you ride around listening to test tones and classical music? 30hz is about the lowest freq. you will see in music, if that. Anything lower than that is usually undesirable clutter, hence a subsonic filter.

i play lots of rap young jeezy will throw some lows in alot of his song just to name an artist. i get my kicks off lows no doubt if you can make it loud and low ill be happy but if you give me just loud n i throw a song wit lows ill be happy for you and your loud set up but it isnt for me which is why im concerned with an amp reproducing 20 hz i may not be playin many songs that will hit the note often but when it comes to it make me throw up when that note hits.

the lows are in the box desighn. and the lowpass filter only prevents your full power from being delivered to those ultra lows that will destroy your subs. for a few seconds its fine, but all the time isnt good.

All amps are capable of amplifying any source you feed it.

I can use that hifonics amp on a tweeter and it will reproduce the frequencies from the source unit just fine...

To test this turn off the LPF and run your sub active on your amp. You will hear voices come from your subwoofer.

The subwoofer will be the only limitation to the frequency being played(aside from it's enclosure). As subs are not designed to play the upper frequency range.

if im looking for gut wrenching lows what should i tune my port to??
30hz. i had my box tuned to 31hz on my hifonics amps and was destroying lows. like the ones in put on by jeezy or so sick by gorilla zoe. its all in the box design and the sub.

but, i dont always play songs with super lows so the box has been retuned to 35hz and i can still pick up the lows, but not as well with the exact same equipment. so it IS all in box design, not amp.

that being said, when i was running a saz3000d, i was getting the same response in the lows as i am with my hifonics amps

amp will do 20Hz-20KHz
the 35Hz is the lowest the LFP can be set at
Will it be a flat response at +/- 1dB all the way across the spectrum from a class d amplifier? I highly doubt it.

I have a Crossfire BMF1000d on my test bench right now and you are making me want to try it on a pair of 6.5" coaxials in "shoebox" enclosures.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
