exactly... why are you kids so obsessed with bling and features on POS deck. to the inexperienced, any good you could do with those features is actually used to screw the signal up some more. get an actual good transport and you'll even spend less

X2 I see so many posts from people who just seem to love to tweak their decks for hours to get it "just right." IMO, if I had to tweak a deck for hours, I have problems.

Any eclipse I have ever used along with my RF 8250 is pretty much set flat, and the results have been very nice, imo.

I just picked up a new Blaupunkt Acapulco MP54.. I bought it sight unseen since its new and none of my local stores have it... I'm not sure what 'features' you're looking for but I got it for $270 and it has everything I was looking for (including dual AUX inputs).. If you like the 'bling' its got a user selectable color LCD.. (4000 colors).... As for sound and customization - you can buy an external mic and have the sound auto adjust for you.. I don't know how well it works but seems like a decent option on an inexpensive HU.

I've only had it installed about a week and have no complaints at all.

i like my excelon 579 alot. 24 bit burr brown, 3 sets of rcas, nice easy to work crossovers.

I second that Kenwood recommendation. In that price range, you can find an x679 that would work nicely, and has all the tweeks you will ever need. The Alpine is another good option. The Eclipse is always nice, but you have to buy it from an authorized (read: not online) dealer to get any kind of warranty from them.
