HU will not power on

I just got my jeep broken into and the stereo stolen. They cut the harness so i have no where to plug my new deck into. I went to installdr.com and got the wiring diagram for my jeep and matched up the wires to my new deck. I am SURE I hooked everything up right but it wont power on.

Any ideas of what I can check for?

if u have ur constant 12v and acc. wire and ground correct then i see no reaosn y it would turn on. check ur radio fuse in ur fuse box and if the fuse is fine then take the radio out and run it directly to the battery. if the radio turns on the ur wires might be fukked up and if it doesnt ur radio is shot...

yeah most likely when they cut the harness, it momentarily caused a short and blew a fuse

ahh, the fuse is a good idea, i will go check that.

i have a 92 cherokee and just got a Kenwood KDC mp435u

The raido fuse is fine. I also ran a wire dirrectly to the battery and still nothing happened.

Is it possible that the wiring diagram is not 100% accurate? I tried switching the ignition and battery wires around and I heard the deck turn on this time but there was no display.

maybe while installing ur adio ur shorted and the radio fuse popped check that but heas the wires of ur car

Constant 12V+ Red/White

Switched 12V+ Purple/White

Ground Black

Illumination Blue/Red

Dimmer Red/Black

Antenna Trigger Purple/Orange

Antenna Right Front

Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors

Left Front (+) Gray

hope ur radio isnt shot does it atleast feed the cd and ejects it?

i did something stupid....when i ran a wire to the battery i connected it to the ignition wire instead of the power wire. so i tried it with the power wire this time and it worked.

so i have another question now.... where can i get power from?? somewhere in the fuse box?

u meant as for the remote turn on yea u can just tap on to ur radio fuse for the remote turn on..

ur contant on the radio harness goes to red/white wire of ur car wires

ur accessory wire on the radio harness gores to the purple/white on ur car wires

ground is ground

and if u have amps and u need remote turn on tap the radio fuse and run it to ur amps if more than 2 amps i would use a relay...

Hey thanks a lot for your help man.

The only problem now is that whenever i turn the car off and back on again all of my settings re gone. like the time and raido stations, things like that. is there a way to fix that?

you hooked your constant to an accesory , you can run a wire from the cigerete lighter for a constant if needed instead of the battery
