HU Recommendations Needed

I will be checking the Clarion out in person. It's always nice to check out good gear.
It's not that I need another head unit.... I already have a more than a few boxed up.

I bought an 80prs and sold it. I demoed it on my hi-fi boom box lol... It was pretty nice, but I'd still rather have the clarion. But some of that is personal preference.

Did he have a floor model set up? Tell me what you think of the 80v90vclairion if your back there.

I haven't been there yet.

I'll definitly compare the 80 (90?) to the Clarion now.

This store also has the only rights in my city to sell Focal so they apparantly sell good equipment.

BTW~ McIntosh and Focal...your system must be awsome.

Ty very much. It's a work in progress I am switching to an active front stage.

Those focals were very nice. I switched to Hybrid audio for the time being...

I am running a zed amp until I redue the sub system.

I love that zed amp as much as the mcintosh's.

It must be nice to have a Focal dealer intown so you can demo their stuff... My selection around here is somewhat limited.

What kind of Mc gear do you have at home? Family has a Mc system from the 70's, **** thing sounds better than most of the new "name brand" stuff made today...

Also whatever you do, do NOT buy Denon for your system. Their quality has really slipped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I bought and returned their home theather reciever... it was a big let down. They gave it 4 hdmi inputs but a worthless DAC... it sounded terrible through the hdmi's.

I tend to like (or i'm tuned to) American amps and German speakers.

My home system is an old McIntosh amp and pre-amp (C501) with Magnat speakers (German)

When I use headphones I like Grado but prefer AKG (German again)

So it makes sense that my car audio would be a US amp (PP) and German speakers (MBQ)

Regarding Denon~my first CD player was a Denon flagship.

It was the warmest sounding player at that time.

Sorry to hear they're not the bang for the buck company anymore.

But I guess companies change...I heard MB Q no longer builds in Germany and are not the company they use to be.

Right now I use the Oppo 95 to run my home system and I couldn't be happier.
