I have a pioneer 6600 and every time i turn it up my cd starts to skip when the bass hits, i use my bass knob and turn it down and it's fine, but i have to turn it all the way down, what would cause it to skip............ is it my cd player............ or is it my amp doing something funky..............or do i need new rca cables

You just answered your own question :

When it's down, it doesn't

When it's up, it does skip....
