HU help, would an upgrade help?

Right now im using this discontinued CHEAP sony HU.

Main problem: My speakers try to play a 50hz test tone, they are trying to play what the sub does as well as their other tasks = one SHITTY sounding system, how can I solve this issue, my amp doesnt seem to have any high pass filters on it.. but I cant give them any volume with them playing so low or its horribly stressed and distored.

Do newer/better HU give you the ability to lets say control the freq. sent to certain pre-outs or something?

yes. most new decks will have hp/lp filters. you DEF need a new headunit friend!! also they'll give better signal to the amp, and cleaner sound/power.

right on, VERY happy news to my ears.. any suggestions on a HU.. lets give my self $250usd to work with.. will that be enough? Its summer time and im going to get this working good.

what about the Pioneer DEH-P6800MP?

The only downside I read was the 2.2v output, I would rather have like 5, but cant be to picky with the price range.. how do you think this would treat me?

Look a the Kenwood excelons. They are loaded with all the features that will suit your needs. Pioneer Premiers are good too for what you would be looking for. A good head unit is where it all starts for a great sounding system. It is your command central for you to build from. That is were I would suggest you start. Good luck!

I want 3, just to keep options open, and to be able to have more control.. right now I have one and its a pain in the *** (probably due to the cheap HU). So im liking the idea of having 3. I will stay passive for a while now (just want to make the **** thing sound decent first) so it will just be a bonus to have a spot for my rcas for the fronts and a non fader for the sub.

Also, can certain HU make more Alternator noise than others, I know its silly but my grounds seem good.. and my rcas and power wire run opposite the car from eachother.

what about going refurbished? I've never thought of it, do refurbs usually look alright? I know they are going to work. I think this is an older model but it has loads of goodies..

headunits usually don't induce noise intereference except alot of the older pioneers (excluding the new 06 line up). it's usually just a bad ground somewhere or messed up wiring/cables. OCCASIONALLY, you can get a defective headunit that'll induce noise interference.

but the 3-way hu question was to help narrow down your choices alot.

refurbished can be a good thing or a bad thing.

on headunits, they usually on fix the part that was messed up, and not anything else, so it still has potential, whereas on amps, they'll usually fix/replace everything depending on damage assessment.
