THE STEREOTYPE FIGHTER!!!
if i do get the mach5 12", mine is goin in a 5 cu ft box with 2 17" aeroports from partsexpress. both open = 26Hz one plugged up= 18 - 18.5Hz. WOOT
Obviously for output, just do a ported tuned low. I* would go at 3 cu ft myself though. If you don't have that kind of room then just go sealed.Ok, here's the deal:
I just ordered a Mach 5 MAW-12 from Loyd. It's going to be in my dorm, and I'll eventually be powering it with a dayton 250w plate amp. Space isn't much of an issue, so here's my question: what kind of enclosure would some of my HT junkie friends recommend?
A)
Simple sealed box. Probably around 1.5 cubic feet
B)
Ported box, tuned in the low 20's, around 2.0 to 2.5 CF
C)
4th or 6th order bandpass. Basically for shits and giggles
D)
ABC box. Again for shits and giggles
I don't know much about C or D, but I'd like to learn more. What would have the most output while still retaining some sound quality?
5 CUFT seems extreme but I do like the idea of plugging the ports for a different tune. Will one 4" port be enough though when that thing starts reprodcing 18hz and below during a movie? May get some chuffing there.if i do get the mach5 12", mine is goin in a 5 cu ft box with 2 17" aeroports from partsexpress. both open = 26Hz one plugged up= 18 - 18.5Hz. WOOT
