HT box/install speaker questions

So I built a new box for my sony 12" home theater sub (1.75 tuned to 32 hz) and it's much better than the original enclosure.

Which got me thinking this Sony speaker can't be that good (however it does sound good at least to me) so could I get 2 crappy 12's from work (best buy) for next to nothing and make them sound good?

Everyone says it's 70% install, so if I make a good box tuned low (I'm thinking 28hz this time) for 2 crappy 12's for my home theater do you think it will sound better than my single crappy sony sub?

Sorry.. still looking for some input. I can get a cheezy Infinity for like $36, and I'm thinking of 2 of them.
