hpf settings?

i recently added a subwoofer to my stereo, i notice that if i raise the volume to high my door speakers will start to distort. i messed around with the hpf on the headunit and it managed to cut the bass from the speakers perfectly, now my question is will the hpf setting affect my sub or does it only affect the door speakers. my stereo does have a dedicated subwoofer rca output.

thank you in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The hpf has nothing to do with your subs. Hpf filters bass below chosen frequency for your door speakers. Set the hpf to 50 and your getting bass. Set the hpf to 200 and you will have zero bass. Subwoofer outputs can have lpf's. Lpf filters out bass above chosen frequency. Crazy eyes up there is saying you are asking about a problem you do not have.
