How's this setup sound?

I'm currently running an Alpine Type R 12" sub w/ an Alpine MRP-M650 amp in a sealed box and am looking to upgrade to something with both more output and SQ.

After looking around a little, I think I've settled on a single 12" Fi Q powered by a Cadence IA7 in a ported box of about 2.5 cubes at 32 Hz.

Do you think this will give me the additional output and SQ I'm looking for or would you have other suggestions in the same price range?

Also, what is the best way to go about ordering a Fi subwoofer? I know their website has a shopping cart function, but I think I recall seeing people mention emailing them directly for quicker, more efficient service.

Thanks for the advice in advance guys.

Type R in a sealed was your first mistake
Go Diamond Subs, Excellent SQ
He is right on saying that a sealed type r was a mistake. i have 2 type r's in a ported box and it hits way harder than in a sealed. I would recommend getting a ported box for this type of sub. I don't think you need to swith to diamond audio. If you have the space i would recommend getting another type r and running more watts to them in a ported box. However, if you want to order an fi system u cannot go wrong.

I agree with ya on that one honestly. Only reason I really went sealed was because I knew I could do it without calculating tuning for a ported and fubar'ing the sub. Haha.

I've been reading great reviews on the Fi, though, and its looking really nice. I'll be pushing double the power I have now plus have it in a ported box. Should be a good bit louder and hopefully sound better.

So is the Cadence a solid amp? I saw something about picking a different amp earlier in the thread.. Any particular reason?

fi q is okay, tune it to like 25hz tho
I got the suggestion for 32hz from the guy who I was trying to get to design the box for me (just because honestly, I'm not into the port calcs and such).

Would 25hz be a better suggestion? I listen to a lot of rock, with an occasional need for some rap just to play with my subs. I'd like to keep a pretty flat response if at all possible (i.e.: want this to be musical, not a SPL one-note-wonder.)
