Hows this look for an active front stage?

Take a look at the Peerless SLS 8's on Madisound. Not saying the Dayton's aren't a good choice. As far as a tweeter goes, you should look at larger format tweeters that play low. There's a few people on http://www.diymobileaudio.com that were using the 2" Aura whispers, which are more of a full-range driver, but mated good with a 2-way using 8's. Diymobileaudio is a VERY informative site for ppl wanting to run active. Your crossover is a good choice if your on a budget, there has been some noise issues with them. Although, I never had any with mine when I was using it.

I like the Vifa D26NC05 1" soft dome-

Same tweeter Soundstream used to use in their Reference line.

The various mounting options (surface, flush, angled) are like $5 extra, also on Madisound.

looks good.
As far as xover, it depends on ur budget. I've heard that the memphis xo-3 is a decent one also
Does the Memphis have a bandpass filter? If i get this one,it will give me a reason to go all Memphis for my amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I'd like to offer some advice on that but I've only heard the amp in action. IMO its a good amp but I always like a little extra power for future upgrades.
I was thinking that also..I'd rather have headroom than exact power.

Great info Thanks.

just remember those tweeters are pretty large.
I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But most tweets on DIY sites are like that. Where can I find tweeters the size of the ones that come in components sets?

The Dayton RS225 is not really a good option for a 2-way. The only way it's moderately feasible is if the 8"s are in kicks aimed on-axis. Then you'll need a good 24-36 db crossover to deal with the breakup nodes. The Aura Whispers have been met with success, but it's an acquired taste as upper end clarity, detail and sparkle suffer quite a bit. Most of the people using that setup use it in convertibles where top end is non-existent anyway.

The Peerless SLS8 that was mentioned is a great midbass driver, but for midrange duties, it's a great midbass driver. Look at the response graphs, it's useless above 500 hz.

For a tweeter, it's hard to beat the Seas Neo for the money. http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=633

There are a ton of Seas drivers in the Prestige line that perform excellently in a car door. It's a great start for the first time active setup.

Thanks for the info! I will update my list when I decide on a another setup.

J/W.. Does Morel make a good product(tweets)?

Updated list, How does it look now? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

For the price of the 2 amps and the crossover, why not look into the eD NINe.5? It was pretty much brought to fulfill the needs of the diy'er crowd running active.

I know eD's past antics have left a very sour taste in many people's mouths, but I think for the price and feature set the NINe.5 offers, it's hard to look away.

Nix the idea of an 8". They're just too hard to get to work well in a 2-way.

You'll get plenty of midbass from one of the RNX series Seas 7" drivers. Might I suggest the current boner (for a reason), the ER18RNX. That matched with the Seas tweeter is a great first time setup.
