definitly a waste of money. I would go RE audio or Alpine for that price
at $55 each that's a waste of money??

How about the JBL GTO1014D

I can pick them up for $80 a piece.

You could put 1000watts to 1200watts daily to a Phoenix Gold Rsdc. And it sounds better then the Type R, but I don't know if it would get louder then it. I really need to meter my system, but there is no one around here to do it.

I had 1 of these before on 350 watts and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone, especially for 55.00.I believe a lot of people discredit most entry level products because of the price, but these are solid.

I actually really like the way those infinity's sound. If you're looking for some extra bass with decent SQ they're a good deal. My buddy has one in a 1.2 cu ft. sealed box and was running it off a 400w infinity amp and it wasn't the loudest, but it sounded clean and was definately enough for a daily setup.

Agreed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Infinity reference subs sound as good as anything for the price. No way ANYONE can logically argue that point. And they sound much nicer than a type-r. Man, get a reference and a small amp, and you will happy. I love em for daily SQL if you ain't gonna compete. Also, they have little to zero motor noise, so ported in a hatch/SUV isn't bad at all.

not to start a fire, but why other than handling more rms is the type-r the best "cheap" sub?

I have two kicker comps on a memphis amp running 210rms to each and I'm pretty pleased with the SQ.

I guess if you want everyone to hear you coming down the street the type-r's would be good?

i think woofersetc.com has the kicker comp 10's for pretty cheap, and an amp to run them wouldn't be too expensive. they are rated at 150rms@ 4 ohms...
