Hows The SQ on AQ subs

generally its not about the equipment you use as much as the install... AQ subs in my opinion is one of those companies that all of their products are built strongly and last a long time. I would consider it the "old" GM (the car company, very standard products) of subwoofer companies. Very standard nothing fancy and to the point. There is no bullshit with AQ products, they really are just a solid product.. I also think its great that you can order directly from their website... Just because you payd 500 for a W7 and i payed 375 for my hdc3 doesnt mean the W7 is a better product... Ive owned both. The AQ takes more power and imo sounds better in the "correct box" and when i say correct i mean one thats built well but tuned to my preference. I have owned a bunch of subs and the aq by far had the biggest range of freq's that it would hit. If something sounds good or bad to someone is just their preference... When someone sais that AQ's are a SPL sub or not an SQ they dont know anything about their products or what their about because they are neither, granted they have won SQ and SPL competitions.

I think anyone that has had any AQ products have enjoyed them, I have never heard anything negative of any of their products either. Ive owned every AQ product except the 3500 and I have nothing but good things to say about their products not to mention the quality of customer service that DJ provides to his customers. Either way you can not go wrong with AQ.

sub doesn't matter all too much w/ sq comps or sq in general.
but we are NOT talking SQ comps JB. We're talking daily driver set ups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The AQ's will perform quite well in that environment mated to a solid front stage...

hmm yeah i wasn't sure if it would make them sound solid, tech they are rated at 1k right? on the aq site?

i really really like the solid, not so flashy, time tested durable nature of the aq subs. id rather have the durability and daily driving bang then the all out spl burb, or expensive sq.

id really dig just 1 aq hdc3 18 on my saz 2000d. how would and aq hdc3 18 compare to 2 mach 5 mj 18's on the same SAZ 2000d?

i don't know much about the mach 5's

how would 2 hdc3's sound on only 2k watts @ 1 ohm
1k a piece would still make them sing right?
They'll be loud at 1000 watts each, they can just take a whole lot more and get a lot louder. So that leaves you room to upgrade the wattage in the future and get louder.

I have mine almost around 2000 watts, I love it, got a whole lot louder than when it was on the AQ 1200D. Hope that helped.

word, i think im looking for somthing like that, the extra head room so i don't come close to burning anything up, and worryin about playin to hard or loud, but i have room to definitely go bigger and louder if i want.

plus the hdc3's are solid as hell. ++

But what about air space? i was thinkin the mach 5 mj18s, but would 2 15's sound better in the same space?

and i do like dd audio too ( such a tough choice) lol

how does the dd 3518 sound?

or would it be best just to do 2 15's, over the 18(s)

1 2k 18?
or

2 1k 15's?
I may have missed it, but how much space do you have?

Cause with that kind of power for the hdc3.....I would do at least 8 cu.ft. for 2 15s, if you got the space, I would choose cone area over wattage. Plus the hdc3s will give you head room with that power.

56 inches wide, to be safe 30-32 inches deep, and as high as i need to go upwards.

extended cab silverado, (no back seat, just a platform/amp rack for the subs to sit)

yeah i was thinkin as long as the hdc3's sounded really good on just 1k each, then that would be super, the volume would come from the surface area of 2 15's you know? id rather go with the sa, over wattage. but i don't have much to base that on.

and i like the head room. i know this probably won't be the last amp i go with, so if i have the extra, to say strap another saz 2k and run 4k @ 2ohms (example) then ill be able to.

plus the hdc3's are durable and from what ive read, cut and dry but solid as a mf rock lol
