Well i wanna wire my front components so active. How do i do this? i got a 6 channel jl amp that does 75x6 at 4ohms

i got boston acoustic sl60 comps in channels 1 and 2

phoneix gold coaxials in channels 3 and 4

and 5 and 6 are blank are those the channels i use for active?

if you want to do that you'll need a crossover and then you can wire all four parts of the comp separately, without the crossover the tweeter and woofer would be getting the full signal from the amp. You have to be careful though because doing this could blow the tweeter very easily if you mess something up. Is this what you mean?

Get rid of the coaxial's. Bridge channels 1+2 for the left boston comp. channels 3+4 for the right. match the gains with a multimeter or the left right balance will be off. your also going to need to know the specs for your speakers in order to setup the crossover correctly and not blow the tweeters. The passive crossovers that came with your speaker will not be used in this setup. you will need an active powered crossover. There's alot more to it but this is a start. Get reading or your going to break lots of things. Good luck.

How's he gonna run active if he's bridging channels to each side of the components?

First off you need to understand how an active setup works. An active setup utilizes either a crossover built into an active capable headunit, an external 2-way/3-way active crossover, or an amp that incorporates a bandbass crossover for at least 2 channels of its output.

Next you need to lose the crossovers that came with the components because you will be using the ones from the HU/crossover/amp.

Knowing the original factory crossover point on the crossovers helps, and the speaker spec's also help. You can't run every tweeter at 2000hz and expect it to hold up, and you can't run every mid up to 3000hz and not expect breakup or harsh sound...

Hope that helps.

He's got a six channel amp. 1+2 to left, 3+4 to right, 5+6 to tweeters. Am I missing something?I did forget to mention tweeters on 5+6 as long as they can handle the power. And I will also admit my explaination of the different ways to go active was lacking but that's why I said what I wrote was justa start.

Yes you did.
1/2 and 3/4 should be bridged to the MIDBASS's not the comps.
Midbass is comps. Or that's what I meant if it was confusing. Edit: I see how it would be confusing to the op if he thinks the comps is the whole set ie tweeter and crossover included. I'll just stfu now.

Since it seems like you're pretty new at this you might just want to keep the whole comp set together and factory and not try to go active, at least that way you don't void the warranty you save money, lower the risk of speaker damage, and you probably wont see much of a benefit of splitting off the tweeter anyhow. Just a thought, if your hell bent on it, I'd say do a good bit of research before setting it up.

Yeah there is a good chance you'll break something if you don;t know what your doing. Go passive first and see how you like the sound. You can always go active later once you gain some experience.
