How to wire multiple amps?

IF thats what hes trying to accompish then no. however like i said im still having a hard time understanding what hes putting together.
i misinterpreted your post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

edit: ahhhhhh. my fault. i thought he was saying he was running 3 visionik amps and 2 l7's and thats it. i assumed he was using the enclosure with the amp on it, but with an l7 in the box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif :blackeye: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif :blackeye: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif :blackeye:

my apologies. i hate when people give bad advice which i thought you were doing...until just now when i realized what was being discussed. im a cunt
No worries. I did the same thing and misread a post the other day.

Foote, for your proposed (2) S12L7 setup on your other thread, you need to find out which voice coil configuration they are (dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm). After that, you can look for the proper amp to power them. If they are dual 2 ohm, then you need one that is optimized for 2 ohm. Dual 4 ohm, and look for an amp that does max power at 1 ohm. Good luck.

I dont understand the diffrence in 2ohm or 4ohm.

lol max power doesnt mean sh!t...............................but i think MOST of us know what your talking about. but to the OP stick with the l7's and then find a amp for those. should be plenty enough for you.

well im gonna have multiple amps either way. Cuz I want this 200.2 amp to power my tweets and (rather weak cheapo) bass tube from walmart.

But, I looked at it..and maybe this wont be so hard. I think, at least getting power to the amps wont be too much of a mess. And the reason is I got one of these for a battery terminal:

Well, its not the exact same one...mine actually has more holes, but you get the picture. Um..cant I just stick multiple Amp cables through these holes and run them through my firewall, to the back of my trunk where all my amps are?

If so, that takes care of the power...and I only got Turn-on-wire and RCA to worry about...well, and ground (Can I just bolt all the grounds to the same bolt, btw?)

Thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

max power meaning the maximum total power the amp is capable of, in rms, at its lowest rated impedance. I don't deal in the 'max/peak' power rating. Sorry if you misunderstood.

The multiple holes are there to accommodate power wires to your car's electrical parts, to the alternator and fuse box. Its recommended you run 1 wire down to the trunk, then get a distribution block to split power wires to multiple amps.

awe. But itd had been so easy... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It would be much more easy to run a single, larger gauge cable from the battery then splitting off into the smaller runs going to the amps once in the trunk as opposed to running several smaller cables all the way to/from the battery. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Foote, your head unit has Left and Right RCA outputs. If you have multiple RCA outputs, the one that reads "sub" is the one you want to connect to your first sub amp. If you have a crossover, you will need to connect the RCA's to the crossover's Left and Right input. Make sure you can tell which cable is Left and which one Right so that way you won't get them mixed up. The crossover has an output(s) specifically for the sub amp(low pass) and should have outputs for the mids and highs(high pass). You will need to run RCA wires from the crossover's sub or lowpass output into the first subwoofer amp's Left and Right input. That first subwoofer amp should have a Left and Right output, just like the crossover. You now need anothers pair of RCA wires and connect them from the 1st amp's L and R output to the second amp's L and R input and so on. It's one signal all the way. Left and Right. The thin blue wire is called the remote wire. It's okay(from my experience) to "jump" the wire. In other words, the remote wire runs from the head unit to your first amp's remote(REM) connection. From that same connection, you take another blue remote wire and connect it to your other amp, and then do the same to your third amp. Anytime you start connecting or adjusting the + and - terminals on your amplifiers, make sure you disconnect the battery because you can fry your amps' circuitry. It sounds like you will need a fused distribution block to connect the car's positive battery terminal to all of your amps. You're also going to need a grounding terminal to properly ground your amplifiers . You can get both of those items and many more car audio electrical items from Streetwires.com Good Luck, let me know if you have more questions, don't hesitate.

This is a great response, and helped a lot. But I have a few questions. I need much more specfics. What do you mean by the turn on wire "jumping" Do you mean...strip the blue wires and wrap them around the terminals on each amp to where they are touching and have them all strung together?

And about the RCA...How do I run those consecutively? I need that to be really really specfic cuz Im totaly lost on that. whats a cross over?

for an sound quality system you need 2 good subs range from 500 rms power and like two type rs and get a good multichannel amp and a 1000 watts rms amp for the two subs...get some good component set speakers and crossovers and equalizers to control your system...make sure you control everything nicely and the way you set it should be the way you like the music

Just to let everyone know....I got it installed. Pretty much figured it out myself, aside from the help mentioned above.

Anyway...I only ran into one problem: I had to "Relay" (as I call it) the RCA output via y-cables. they "Jump" 3 times, with 2 sets of splitters. From 1 splitter, to the next they seem to lose a little power. Example: a > b > c in terms of excursion and sound level. So...my question is...would it be ok to (in order to make up for this) turn up the gains on amp-b a little higher then the gains on amp-a, and turn up the gains on amp-c even a bit higher still than that of amp-b. (In order to make up for the power loss, and make the sound more even.) I mean, will this still put more strain on the amp, or will it be equal since the RCA-splitting has reduced the power strain on the 2nd and 3rd amps?

Thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
