I am trying to wire up a 12"polk audio sub with a brand new blue series pyramid 2 channel amp. 300w each or 6oow branched. How do I do it and what type of power converter do i need (how many amperes), or can I use a car battery with a charger.

600 watts at 12 volts needs 50 amps. At 60% efficiency you're talking 90 amps. That's a big-ass power supply and it'll be hard to find one that big. A car battery would go dead in 20 minutes. You need a battery and a realy big charger (the equivalent of a 100 amp alternator).

You'll also get 60 cycle or 120 cycle hum because battery chargers are unfiltered and unregulated. Car alternators are 3-phase and have very little AC ripple, battery chargers are not. The hum will drive you nuts.

Do you happen to know of any other way I can do this. I don't think I will be using all 600 watts. I think I am just going to use the 300 watts for now, because I don't know how many watts the sub is. People told me it will between 3-400 watts. If you know, please tell me. It is a 12" polk audio sub. It is a DX12 series. That is really all I know about it. Can I use one of those caps in my home to help power it. If so what kind. (New to this audio stuff)

YOu need a 13v power supply

Pyramid makes a bunch of them

They're big and hot, but if you want to be safe and still run your ****, its the only way

WIht like a 100 watt amp you can run it on a little DC converter, but it will blow before to long. But above that, you simply need to buy a power suply

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.

Drill a hole and use the proper protective split loom and hole grommets to keep the outer speaker jacket from knicks and cuts, give just enough...

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
