How to wire a pioneer deh-4900dab

First, thanks for letting me join.

I live on a boat and thought it would be easy to install a car audio sytem as I run on 12v.

I bought a Pioneer deh-4900dab.

I, being carefull, have connected the negative- black wire.

And connected positive to to the red into the unit, after that did not work, I tried the positve to the yellow into the unit. One at a time, it would not turn on.

Do I need the 12v positive to feed both the red and yellow into the unit for it to power up.

Please forgive what might seem a simple question but I am a bit new to this.

So if you answer keep it simple with no technical terms.

yellow is memory should maybe., wire red to batt and yellow to switch power (key) black to neg..

Red wire is accessory (ignition connection)

Yellow wire is 12v constant (battery connection)
