how to tell which post is + n - on woofer

Ok ill try that, but is there any for sure way to tell... See the problem is we kinda guessed because that all we could do.. The woofer made noise, wasn't moving alot then smelt funny and we unhooked all the power to it... Now were trying to figure out the problem.. Has to be we got the post mixed up.. So the left lead is normally always +?

If it is "smelling funny" you have more then +/- wrong.

As for which is +/- what I told you is 95% right all the time. Some times if you look on the former there will be a red mark by which lead is the + but not all the time.

LOL well if it's smelling funny what else could it be? I am pretty sure the guy he bought it off of did a fresh recone on it, looks fresh and not from rusty... Once it started smelling funny we unhooked the power and put the sub away... This was also a free air test by the way..

If you have any ideas that be cool.. It's a d2 wired to 1 ohm load running off an audio pipe 1800.1 ( I know not the best )

Also the leads were not soldered when he got it, so we soldered them on and not sure if we did that correct either lol... Their were two leads sticking out that goes to each post.. We just took both of them from each side and soldered it to their posts... Is this correct? I never built a woofer and the dude we bought it off of pretty much built have of it then sent the rest and never told us thats what he was doing lol....
