how to tell pos. from neg.

i have a pair of jl c5 comp tweeters...the tweeter has come off the speaker wire...

is there a way to test or check witch is postive and witch is neg? ...other then wire color( since there not attached)?

I'd get a track that tests whether or not they're in phase...listen both ways and see which one works.

As long as both speakers are hooked up the same way poliarity shoudn't matter as they will both be in phase with each other.

yes.....but will they be in relative or absolute phase?

Use a dmm to measure the resistance(ohms), if it's negative, then the pos and neg from the DMM isn't matching the speaker's pos and neg.

Ohms won't tell weather they are pos or neg.Only voltage will show neg if the leads are backwards.

if it was wired correctly the first time, positive has the writing on it and neg has nothing.(thats how i was taught)

No doubt, Fck spending $100+ on something you wont use but maybe twice a year.
