how to talk parents into somthing??

ok so i have been driving 2 years now, and have never had any kind of an accident, or even a ticket(dont know how i speed all the time). and all i have wanted since the beginning was a camaro , or a firebird at least a 99 or newer. well my parents where gonna get me one but we had a hard time finding one that hadnt had the piss ran out of it and was still in good shape, well i turned 16 and wanted to drive so i settled for a really nice Chevy truck. then the gas got to killing me because it only got 12 MPG, so i got a grand am....well the grand am fvcking sucks and i hate it so i ask my parents if i can sell it and look for the car i have always wanted well now they are saying its too dangerous and i dont need one.....wtf??? so how would you guys talk to your parents and get them to let you get it after not having any wrecks or tickets?
It is posts like this that make me question having my own kids.. When my kid at 17 comes to me whining that the perfectly find Grand Am is using not only too much gas but that they want to 'downgrade' to a Camaro or Mustang so save on gas money I might just end up choking a bitch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh:.

Look at it like this in 10 years you will be able to probably buy most any car you want within reason and you won't have to ask your parents to help you.

if you are considering getting a v6 Camaro or Mustang I would suggest against as even the girls will laugh at you.

just try to get em both, see if you can make payments on the new one n hide it at a friends house til your 18 or they give you the ok then sell your current car n pay off the rest n make some cash back off the deal to get a system, or in your case a radar detector (valentine 1, best one ever) but thats what i did was i bought a truck n drove it for a year when i was fifteen n had just gotten my permit lol
Someone is watching too much television ot not getting enough sleep and is letting their brain travel off to make believe land.

If he gets a car under aged (17) he will not legally be able to register it himself or get it insured which is even dumber than trying to convince your parents you want to downgrade to a Camaro to save gas mileage.

yeah well it worked n i drove my own car at fifteen almost whenever i wanted so im proud, n my fifteen yr old friends were jealous, the guys anyways n the girls loved it lol
If you did you drove a bucket around unreg'd and uninsured which is dumb in the first place and I don't think what OP is looking for.

I dunno I asked for a lightning and they said as long as I could find one fore a certain price. They never said anything about it being dangerous except for when they test drove and my mom said it made her feel like she was on a rollercoaster when my dad floored it
Spoiled //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You have a cool dad I can't say I would get my kid a fast car for a first vehicle but I would have loved to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Hell I would still like to own a Lightning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Cliffs for future posters:

Poster bought truck, sold for Grand Am. OP is misguided into why he wants a Camaro. He splits insurance with parents, but pays for the rest of it himself. He is trying to reasonably talk with his parents about his misguided dreams for a Camaro. His parents willing to help him with this makes him a spoiled ***** to others.

Anyhow, the Camaro will nuke your insurance. rearwheel drive, two door, sports car class. What you think you may save in gas will murder you twice in insurance. If it helps, I don't know girls who know the difference between a V6 or V8 Camaro. Hell, they think Civics with spoilers look good. Who would trust that judgement?

doesn't help at all, but i'm going to brag....when i was 13 i bought a 73 ford maverick $250 cash, began work on it the next week, drove it through highschool paying gas(shitty mileage), $300 every 6 months insurance, and now am 21 for another couple months....i still own the maverick, which has become my toy car...

IMO if you want a rear wheel drive car that is 'performancy' then get an older one and work on it...don't get rid of the AM just because you want your "dream car" NOW!! as someone else stated, save the money now and put it into something more useful later

thanks for the clifs...i definitely read the entire thread and then was like SH!T

Pie graphs are the route i would take. Vin diagrams are great, but pie graphs always take the cake.

Pie graphs are the way to go man, show them a pie graph.

Maybe you could turn a piece of pie into a graph? Or use a tire as the perimeter for the pie graph. Perhaps teenage guts could fill one sliver, and the other section could be success. Although i have yet to find a better way to measure success than road rashed teenager guts. Perhaps you could try an arrangement of dandelions though!?

I would do this quick before one of your friends blasts his skull apart on his steering wheel trying to jump a speed bump... will most likely undermine your point.

Best of luck sincerely,

fuck you.

Truth in its sincerest form.

And i dont know about you. But when i was 16 and driving a truck would've got me a hell of a lot better mileage than a sports car. The truth may not be the same now... but i'm glad i owned the piece of shit i did. Does this mean all teens are irresponsible pricks like me? Absolutely not. But do i believe you're the exception to the rule? Hah, swallow a testicle.

Well you will need to sit down and really point out all the Pros and Cons. Intelligently devise a presentation. Try to drive home the fact that just because a car has 300HP and go x.x in 60 seconds and achieve xxxMPH, doesn't mean it will be. Explain you are mature enough to conduct yourself appropriately on the streets. If what you say about your driving record is true, this shouldn't be much of a stretch to accomplish.

Last but not least, stop coming to us for advice, because you are likely to get the opposite //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
