Sorry to bring up an "old" post, I just saw it.
Use a cotton cloth soaked with Rain-X to get the glue off. Make sure you use an old rag because the glue will stay in it and ruin it. I have tried dozens of things in the past but this definitely works the best.
I was trying to remove old registration stickers from my Sea-Doo. Tried WD40, Gasoline, Commercial sticker-remover-crap, Rubbing Alcohol, a paint scraper, razor blade... the list goes on. None of them worked. I tried Rain-X since I had used it to remove some glue left over from a bad tint removal job a few years earlier.
Sprayed it on, let it sit for a minute and it peeled right off. A little more on a rag to get the remnants off and it was clean as hell!!!
