1. Amplifier wattage matching with speaker wattage. 400 watt Speaker 4 ohm single voicecoil, you would look for an amplifier that gives you 400 watts at 4 ohms. lets say you have a 800 watt speaker dual voicecoil 4 ohm, you can wire to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. you could look for an amplifier that gives you 800 watts at 2 ohms. im new to this but I believe that's how it works. that's how I do it and I haven't went wrong yet.

2. I am not sure, but I know Rockford fosgate is a brand that usually puts out more wattage then what is listed, same as kicker. for an example Rockford fosgates 2500bd has had a wattage of 3400 or so. Example of using a 3000 watt sub, with a 2500 bd would possibly give you actually 3400 watts. Also I am not completely sure on that either but its how it seems.

3. 2 channel could be used to run two subwoofers, possibly component speakers. 4 channel amplifiers are mostly for a full audio system for the two in the doors, 2 speakers in the rear of the car. or two front speakers and bridge the other 2 channels for a subwoofer.

I am fairly new to this topic, but I am catching on. If anyone else can brush up what I said, it would also help me learn.

Many companies lie about power output and power handling.... even the honest companies will under-estimate the power handling/output. More importantly is knowing which specific brands and models do what they claim!

Channels of an amp should be pretty self explanatory. Same as channels in a home receiver or any other application.
