how to convince my dad to buy me a vr6 jetta?? thx guys

dude, your asking an audience of maybe 5% of people who have gotten nice, as in good, decently expensive cars boughten for them...and they are not looked up to by people here. Your asking us how to get a car (before you said you were paying for half nowwwwwww) that lots of us couldnt even afford ourselves in the first place...and another big percentage are more than twice as old as you.

I just have to say that I have a 2005 consumer reports in front of me right now...lets see what it says.... if you know how they rate stuff in this magazine...it has all the little red and black dots...red being good, black being shitty.........THERE IS 75% BLACK FOR PRETTY MUCH ALL VW!!!

WAAAITTT!! vr-6 had the best and fastest engine made

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
umm to the post you qoted b/c im to lazy to find it, toyotas have some of the strongest engines ever built id take one over a pos v dub any day...

man, you dont seem to see what you've said. You started out by saying that you needed help choosing a car, which i have no problem helping with, but when you started saying things like "i try at life, so i deserve a car" when that's what most of the American youth population do without the bribery of a car. i just dont see where you're coming from i guess, i never had mommy and daddy to buy me a car, or pay for my insurance, or pay for my gas, or pay for me to get anything for my car, they cant even afford to buy themselves a new car.

and then you said something to the extent of "everyone gets a car when they're 16, im 17!" that just made you sound like a whiney 3 year old begging thier mother to buy them a toy.

If you're not mature enough to deal with the critisisms and remarks of other other forum members, then you're truly not mature enough to be driving a car. we're trying to help you see that you can't just live your life "trying" because your parents will buy you a car. what's gonna happen when you get a real job someday, are you not going to "try" unless they offer you a raise, and a promotion?

you can't live your life thinking this way, or you'll just be another ignorant scumbag in the world

i dont mean anything bad by this. Just wanted to put in my $.02

if it makes you happy i wont say anything else.

dood if i didnt deserve a car then i wouldnt try so hard at what i am doin. i mean i could be a pothead or and alcoholic if i wanted to, or skip school and not have a job but i try in life. if i didnt deserve the car then why the hell would i try so hard????
know dood u really dont get it cause u just assumed that i broke my surf board??? that is real idiotic thing to say. not to mention that i did lose my wallet it was locked away, and somebody actually broke the lock and stole it. which once again was stupidity at work, marley i thought u were intellegent??? and i did kind of help u out with ur problems. i mean wtf, oh and by the way my dad said if i got the write grades, paid for my insurance and maintanence, got a job,and was on a athletic team he would pay for a car around a certain price and i would have to pay for half of it. the only thing is it would be in his name
Please do not ever say you did anything to benefit my life.

I've seen retarded monkeys with more dignity than you.

i will just point out that this is a very immature and pointless argument. you, as in the person who started this, seem to be very immature and ignorant. you need to step back, look at the big picture, and figure out how ignorant you are of your surroundings and of how life works. other people on here, in my opinion, need to me a little more civilized about how they say stuff, like must you call this kid a douche? can't you just tell him he's being immature?

with that being said, you are being immature, ignorant and somewhat whiney and stupid. look at it this way, if you want to get your dad to get you a vr6, look at the good points of it. if you are getting it to do burnouts at 50 MPH, which btw you cannot do in a stock vr6, then you should do us all a favor and not get the car that you think you will be safe in but really will not be. trust me, been there, done that. everyone thinks they are a safe, good, driver...in reality its just not true.

now on a sidenote, you saying that you deserve a car just because you had your wallet stolen, or because of a broken surfboard, or because you are not a druggie/alcoholic/trashy, that is just **** stupid. your parents should excpect those kind of qualities from you, and you should not think that you should be rewarded for it. and you should probably do that in respect for yourself not your parents.

so all in all, i think you need to grow up a little bit and understand a little more about things before you go head first into getting a car and for what reasons and for what reason you are not a druggie/loser.

not being an ***, just my .02.

X2 I couldn't have said it better myself and that is exactly what I was thinkning.

first of all marley if u saw me u would probably fun away like a lil girl,im about to win in my weight class for power lifting. 200lbs, i weigh benching 350, squating 400 deadlifting 550,cleaning and jerking 260. = a state champion weight lifter for his weight and age.and i already have a scholarship sighned off for fsu. defensive linebacker.but im not saying the vr6 is the fastest, im saying its one of the most reliable, engine's vw has ever produced.

the reason i had this thread put out is because every kid in south florida gets a car when there 16. i dont care who u are thats 80% of the time true. down here in the south. im not even getting that expensive of a car 5k. that's like nothing in south florida. ive seen kids drive to the beach with2005 carrera 911turbos. and they are putting surfboards in the back of their car puting wax on the seat. maybe Florida is like a different country compared to the U.S. but everything i said here is based on facts from cnn.com and nbc.com

I live "in the South"...and that doesn't happen everywhere. Every kid in SF gets a car when they're 16? Post proof of that, because frankly I don't believe you.

I went to a WASPy, small private school - and yeah, a lot of my classmates got new or newer cars when they got their licenses...you know how many of those ended up wrapped around trees or met ditches before the owners turned 18? Of course, if they were still alive their daddies just bought them another to do it all over again.

I think you need a serious reality check, that not everyone lives in the posh dream-world you like to think you live in. If I was your dad, I'd buy you a ten year old car, and make you pick up everything else - maintenance, insurance, gas. That way, it'll teach you the responsibility that goes with caring for something...even if you didn't make the initial purchase, it's something you can take good care of and show him you're better than someone that just mooches off the parents. Unless you really don't think of yourself better than that, in which case no one here can help you.

You don't impress me. Since you'd probably make the first swing at me in real life, your dad would be buying me a new car after the settlement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There are two ways to get what you want:

1. Buy it yourself

2. Sit down with your dad with some hard data that the VW is just as good/better than the corolla. Read some consumer reports, message boards for each car, collect what will break/wear out in each car. Which has better crash test results. If he is on the fence let him and you drive each car to see how they both feel. If he still chooses the corolla, it's probably in your best interest.

Regardless of how much you can lift, you still are a tool.

Plus I think you're full of shit. No kid that sounds like you do could ever amount to anything in life.

Either way, you're a tool.

now i know why are president is still in office. its cause america is full of idiots.
Just thought this was funny of you to say, didn't read the last 2 pages but I wanted to just point out what you said.

America is full of idiots you say... yet your posts show nothing but stupidity. Here's how you should've said it, idiot.

Now I know why our president is still in office. It's because America is full of idiots.

Like everyone else said, get a job and try earning a car for yourself you unappreciative little brat. I had to beg my dad just to let me drive my '88 Grand Caravan and as soon as I got my license I was given 20$ for gas and a month's insurance paid. I saved up for six months making minimum wage to buy my first system only to have it stolen, so stop whining about little things going wrong...you probably deserved them. Besides all that, if you're as big as you say, shouldn't you be looking at a bigger vehicle? Oh say...an old van. At least when you wrap your *** around a tree you'll still be in OK shape. So you're not a pothead and you're getting above a 3.0 GPA; big fuc*ing deal, it's highschool and not everyone is a pothead - and judging by your spelling and grammar, you're taking a bunch of dumbass classes. Hope my advice helps!
