How to connect amp to factory amp

Looking for some pointers here... I have a tundra cremax with the JBL factory system. It has a small JBL amp under the seat which powers everything including the stupid little 8" sub in the back. I don't want to upgrade the whole system as it is not bad, I just want more thump in it. I have bought a 12" sub and a kenwood amp that has a 'speaker level in'. Can I splice into the wires that come from the facotry amp and lead to the rear speakers to get signal to the 'speaker level' connection on the amp? Or is there a better way of doing this without changing the HU and all that. Obviously I will be running power wires so won't be relying on the power supply to the small factory amp. Thanks
