How to bench test amplifiers?

I have a two channel front stage amp I would like to bench test or have bench tested. I doubt I would know how to do it myself, but my step-father is an Electrical Engineer and has lots of oscilloscope, regulated power supplies, etc laying around. Is there a step by step guide to doing this somewhere?

Or better yet, what kind of shop would know how to bench test amplifiers?

Clamp on Amp meter

Voltage meter

Battery bank/powersupply

Probably some kind of speaker simulator

Maybe an oscilloscope

...I never tried it, but I thought about it. I dont want to cough up the doe for a good battery bank besides my car's system.
