Do you just want a louder system? Get a couple 15L7's off eBay. Or is SQ what you are looking for, because the W7 is an SQ driver that happens to get pretty loud.

here's what u do...just go to wal-mart and get a Sony Xplod 12 inch sub...get the pioneer amp they have for sale...dont even worry about a box. just lay the sub in the floor with the amp hooked up and give it all that lil pioneer amp has got...it'll beat a W7 for sure...it pounds like a mo fo...lol

How about a RE XXX, i hear they're good, and i think they're a lil cheeper than the DUB 7

06 XXX retails for $1.3k but around $700 egay.

edit: 12" W7 runs $900 retail can be gotten for $600 on woofersetc. probably less on egay.

and w7 retails at 999$ and is around 550$ on ebay i think, 06 xxx is far superior than w7, handles more, can move lot more air, etc... spending little more is well worth it IMO...

anyone know if an w8 is coming out?

handles more power isnt' an advantage, at least not when we are talking about THAT much power. Niether are SPl oreiented, who the hell wants to NEED to put 2k onto their substage for SQ, or "SQL"? Not me.... It can move more air, but I doubt it sounds quite as nice doing it. I know it's got alot more xmax, but the W7's are quiet all the way through their stoke. Few subs can claim little to no noise free air at 30+mm out. I W7's are a bit nicer on box requirements too, what's the mounting depth of a xxx anyway? XXX's aren't quite as nice of a daily driver sub, IMO.

Lol guy joined this month with three posts trying to trash talk another guys question because he thinks it's the cool thing to do.

Seriously though to the original poster there is a lot more to car audio then just the hype from Pimp My Ride and Rap "musicians". Just because a jewel encrusted buffon has some W7's in his Escalade doesn't mean they're the best thing ever, and I'm sure if you asked him why he had them his explanation would probably be something un-educated and unfounded like "because JL is the best ever and the W7 is the best JL". Reasoning like this is probably what caused your friend to purchase his W7's. This is not to detract from the W7, it is a great sub, just quite frequently overrated. The most important part if you want to get a sub to get loud and sound good is the enclosure design and tuning. Also, the amplifier plays a very large role in the whole equation. Personally, I'm a fan of overpowering speakers as long as there is no clipping and everything is set up correctly. It's best to look at things as a whole rather then focusing on a single facet such as the drivers.
