How to Adjust Balance on JL 300/4 Amp

How do I adjust the balance on a JL Audio 300/4 amp? I know I am supposed to play with the input sensitivity but how do I know how much and which way to put it?

Also I get a bit of hissing at higher volumes. Should I increase the volume at the HU and lower the gain at the amp?

There is a gain setting explanation in a sticky in this forum.

You can also find a walk through on setting the gain in your 300/4 manual.

Or you can use JL's online tutorial at http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143

You may have the gain too high and that is amplifying the hiss in your system. You also can try to find the source of the hiss and remedy it.
