ive gone through 3 subs (2 rsd's and a mtx5500) and its to the same problem. they play good for a few weeks then they start to sound like crap and dont hit hard anymore. its like a slaping sort of noise coming from the sub. my gain is halfway up on the amp and bass boost isnt even all the way up either what could be the possible problems because after my next sub im not buying anymore for a while:verymad:

bass boost should not even be touched.....
i know but i dont think that is it because my first rsd (when i was a bigger noob then now) i had the gains all the way up and the bass boost alll the way up and it lasted like 4 months my last two lasted a few weeks each with gains halfway

I would suggest that if you're continually doing the same thing repeatedly then likely you're at the exact level of n00bizm now that you were [when] using your 1st rsd.

Just a thought...

Outside of that with the realistically minimal information you've given us while trying to find out why you keep cookin' subwoofers I would have to concur with the previous respondants who believe it is mostly if not completely due to improper adjustment of the input sensitivity.

so basically just turn the bass boost off... if its so bad why the hell do amps even have one?

It's not completely horrible per se but just like anything else has to be implemented properly to be used successfully. Outside of that the bass boost circuits in most amps that feature them exaggerate the output at an odd frequency that tends to be detrimental to the overall sound more often than not.

If your signal processing before your sub amp isn't satisfactory to you then the processing in the average amp isn't likely to cure your problem. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
