How necessary would an extra battery be for this setup?

Stock 02' Chevy Trailblazer.

HU : Kenwood dnx5120

Amps : Recoil RED 1000.1 , Hifonics Warrior Eagle (110 x 2 ch @ 4 ohm @ 12.0 volts)

Speakers : Polk db651

Subs : Two 12" Alpine Type-R

Plan on doing the big 3 upgrade. Other than that nothing... unless it's recommended that I add an extra battery. I plan on hooking the system up and seeing if theres any voltage drop (dash cluster has volt meter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ). If it's noted that I should pick up another battery, suggestions?

Thanks.

Your dash cluster's voltmeter is not going to be that accurate. You need to monitor the voltage that the amplifiers are seeing.

That being said, I'm pretty confident in saying you will need a second battery. Assuming your running around 1200w, that's a lot for the stock system to handle.

I was looking around on some info on that Red Recoil amp....it made me lulz. It apparently has 4 35 amp fuses on it......someone was quoted saying 35 amps x 14.1 watts x 4 fuses = 1925 amps.....LULZ right.... I bet you could pull 3 of those fuses and the amp would run just fine.

I will have to check on the alt and battery.

As for playing while the car is off, I don't plan on doing much of this. If anything, I'd just turn on the car. Could I get away with one battery if this is the case?

Recommendations on an extra battery? I think a yellowtop would be too much for this setup. If I do end up adding another battery, it'd be best if it was "best bang for the buck"

And btw, I'll be running the lows amp at 1000 x 1 @ 1 ohm

Big three and just about any size agm battery in the trunk would be fine. I wouldnt even turn that system on without a second battery though.

The alt really doesnt matter much in this case. Any setup I have ever done has been fine with the stock alt if its 2k or under.

Im currently running about 1.8k with an 80amp alt, lame-azz megatron battery from interstate, and a group 31 deka. No voltage drops and stays charged. Cost me around 200 for the electrical upgrade wire and all.

There is never too much when it comes to electrical. I would look into a deka group 31 as yellow tops are to expensive for what they are.

yes you could get away without having to buy another battery. big 3 will help dimming lights and things like that but if i were you and had the money id deffinatly invest in that 2nd battery

Yes I know there is never too much, I didn't mean it that way. I just meant it would be over the top.

I will look into those deka batteries. Any other suggestions? I've heard Kinetik is pretty decent.

10-4 on the volt meter on the dash, makes sense.

Kinetic 1400 or one of those dekas would be good. Check on the forum here and you should have no problem finding a cheap battery. I grabbed that deka for 100 and a couple HC1400s for the same. You might also look for C&D or batcap 800

Our Trailblazers have 140a stock alts but I'm getting drops down to 12.9 volts off ~950 watts so yes, I'd add a battery. I'm gonna throw an HC600 in the back and see how I do because I'll eventually drop my amp down to 1 ohm.

for the price of a hc600 I would just spend a few extra bills and buy a deka group31
