How muddy are 12" BTLs?

I've never really heard them, I haven't really heard a horrible SQ sub either though. I'm not sure how bad it would really sound, or if having my frontstage would help alot with the SQ?

Dude, the guy at the meet with the blue Envoy had a BTL(if I remember right) And that thing sounded pretty **** good. It was a 15 though

From what I've heard around here, even though they are geared mostly for SPL, they don't sound as bad as you would think from an SPL sub.

Ohh, yeah now that I think of it your right. But they are very similar, and if not the BTL should have a bit more SQ

Yea your right, and he said his box was like 40hz I think. i'm have mine at 28hz:naughty: .

no point in tuning that low, i highly suggest you tune around 32-35hz

Unless your doing a theater setup its pretty much pointless, no music you actually listen to has much "bass" under 35hz...

i listened to a 15" BTL tuned to 28hz. It was loud and sounded pretty good. It did lack some lowend, but as an over all driver its a **** good one.

Idk, I wouldn't say it's the bass I listen to, but how low it hits the notes. At the meet there was 2 cars @ like 135dB, one at 34 and one at 27....the 27 got the bass much lower sounding, and I overall liked it better. I know it's kind an invalid statement because they were 2 completely different cars and subs though lol.

just open up the box and give it a big *** port...

let the cone area do the work. If your running 2, open the port to about 70sq.in., tune to around 32 hz and give them a tad more volume than they need...
