Just wondering what you would spend on an engagement ring

I spent about 5k between the engagement ring & wedding band (matching set). This was back in 2004 and we're still not married yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Think it was just above a carat with perfect cut, color, and clarity from Bailey Banks and Biddle. She knows back then how long it took me to save for it in a pure shit job. So anytime a big fight goes down I have some serious leverage!

I spent about 3.5k for just the engagement ring after all warranty/tax/etc. was added. The ring itself was 3k.
