How much would you spend on an engagement ring?

The ring itself was only about $100 or so. The diamond? Valued at $8kish, bought for $3kish? Buy the diamond loose, you'll get a much better deal. Spend however much you feel comfortable with and can afford.

I just bought hers last year. Between the engagement ring and the wedding set, I'm right at $4100, and I got an incredible deal. The engagement ring is 1.8 carat in 18k white gold, and another carat in small cuts in the wedding ring. I say spend what you can afford, but dont be cheap about it. Be honest with yourself, and ask yourself what she's really worth to you. Some guys can only afford a $1500 ring, and I know one guy who spent $9500.

Dont get married for the wrong reasons, cause the divorce will cost WAY more than the ring. If she's really hot, and you've ever had feelings that if you dont marry her someone else will sweep her away, dont marry her. She's not the right one, and it wont last. But if she's truly your inspiration, your partner, and your shoulder to lean on, then spend the money and show her what she's worth.

Then go have great ***, cause nothing makes them wetter than a diamond.

I spent 650 on my wifes engagment/wedding setting 12 years ago. Its still doing its job just fine.

rule of thumb is

1 months salary

(spent WAY more on my wifes though since i had it made for her)

you can get a very nice ring for 500-600 though
