How much will box affect my system?

If you can fit a not shallow mount sub, I would try to use a not shallow mount sub. I strongly dislike shallow mounts, unless it's like Steve Meade where shallow mounts are just a midbass in your doors.

Shallow mounts have improved, but physics is still physics and I like movement to my woofers more than a shallow mount has. Shallow mounts also tend to blow easily, from my experience. Not much cone travel means lots of heat buildup.

@Buck Is it worth it to put it in a ported box or should I just scrap the idea of having loud bass with these subwoofers?

Ultimately I would say do whatever makes you happy, some people really like these subs. Shallow mounts are just limited, IMO, and just physically can’t act like a standard subwoofer. A lot of it really depends in the frequency response you want, and how hard you play your bass. Shallow mounts are more of a fill in woofer vs a full subwoofer sound stage, IMO.

@Buck Ok ok How would I contact you to help me design a box for these subwoofers.
