How much watts rms does your stock alty handle?

well, my tahoe holds a stock 165a alt, and i can run over 1100rms continuous, but i can also push it to audible clipping and drag it down to about 13, which is where the alt is spent, and more is going after the battery, but i do still keep the fuseable link in place to protect the alt, for different reasons

Everybody is going to be different. I had a 100 amp and I couldnt handle 1200 well. The more electronics your car has the more amperage is already disposed. Also your VCM can dictate how much can be safely powered.

80 amp (I think) in a jeep wrangler, my ap15001d did good at about 1300 rms, no dimming and voltage drop to 13.2 at max. but a had a Kenwood Kac9105d, dont remeber the rms but I had dimming with it. It depends on the amp itsself also

Well... in my case, in my 09 Hyundai Elantra, I have I believe, either a 60 or 70 amp OEM alt. And my OEM battery up front. With the big 3 done. I run ~1500 between my speakers and subs with no problem. At full tilt, on long bass notes, I experience minor dimming. That's just my application. It's not often I see or notice dimming, but with my weak electrical, I'd say that's impressive. I do drop down to about 12.8v on those long notes, but, that isn't often with my music choice. I'm excited to see the improvement when I can get a stout battery up front:)

you basically have the same engine that is in my truck. mine has a 110 amp alt to. big 3 up front and a extra bat and you will be fine for that powah. also been running same oem alt since new

also, depends on the efficiency of the specific amp at rated say, a 60% 1kclass a/b is going to tend to drag you down way more than an 80% 1k class d, and yes, changing the ohm load is going to save you some efficiency, and possibly result in more output. case in point: 2 1200d's in my buddies tahoe did not have as much output on 2-13's as one did on 1-13, so we re-wired them to like 6ohms, iirc, or something higher anyways, and gained allot of output as a result

ok which battery would u reccomend? And if the subs perform better at a higher ohm load and with lower wattage it can be a saver for me. I'm pretty sure I dont need a huge second battery right? trunk in a coupe is fairly small haha

I heard that if the alternator is charging 2 batteries then it will be working at 100% duty meaning charging the whole time which will shorten the life of it. I could just add a beefy battery up front instead

My pathy had a stock 130a with the big 2 (didn't do alt to batt) and at full tilt idle i wouldn't have any noticable drop when the bass hit but it did drain down to like 13.2 from 13.8 after like 10 min

Mine is 110a and im wondering what other ppl are running as to see if I can get away with 1500 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
i ran 2200 with stock alt no issues..........big three and yellow top
