How much space needed from sub to end of box?

Just wondering how much space is needed from the sub to the end of the box.

For example, my RE MT has an outer diameter of 15.5", what's the smallest I can go on the height for the box? 16.5"?

Trying to figure this out as my original plan of 18" tall didn't work.

The smallest you can go is the cut-out diameter dimension for the INTERNAL height.

So, for a 15" I usually go with 14.5"

How would that work considering the 15" MT's bolt hole diameter is 14.75"?

How much farther must the box go on the W axis in that image then the sub cutout?

I've built COUNTLESS boxes for 15" twelve spoke baskets man...

The minimum internal dimension I'd go with is 14.25-14.5" (considering the cut-out dimension is 14.125"). This means the external dimension of the box is 15.75-16" leaving you room for the gasket OD... and to screw the sub in.

How about clearance for the pole vent?
