How much space between pole vent and box?

wont let me search, keep getting "this page cant be displayed". need to know if i really need much room between back of sub and the box? what happens if there's very little room, like less than an inch?

Go with the diameter of the pole vent if you can. If you obstruct the pole vent significantly, you will actually change the Qms of the driver and affect cooling.

No sweat. An old trick I've used before is to grind away just enough wood in that area to prevent restriction but only if I couldn't find a solution with the baffle like a mounting ring to raise the driver out of the enclosure or similar. thats exactly what i was thinking, sanding a little out for extra room, and spacer ring if needed.

So you use the diamater of the hole in the motor and thats how much clearence it should have?

True, I hadn't considered some drivers don't have flared pole vents and they may want to see even more clearance.

I needed 1.5" baffle to give mine space but i have no pole vent = ) I just cut 2 14.5" x 15" squares of .75 MDF and screwed them on. When i update my build log you'll see what i mean.
