Hi, I am looking at 2 12' JL audio with a ported box. I would also need a amp of course, fix the vibrating in my driver door and 2 tweeters? How much is this going to cost me do you think. I have had quotes for $1100 for a new head unit all need speakers and subs, but I have decided that just the subs and fixing the door will be adequate enough. Thanks for the help! BTW its a 2002 toyota land cruiser

OK cool thanks, and how much do you think this will cost me, because this is a one time thing and I don't want to get ripped off haha.

I dont really care if its JL, hes an authorized dealer, so thats why he recommended me those I think. Any brand that is a better deal and sounds decent will be good, enough, really dont want to go over $800.

just a daily setup, defiantly not competing haha, all I am really looking for is 2 12" ported subs and to fix a vibration in my door. Tweeters shouldn't be expensive at all so that shouldn't even be a concern.

Beat down, thanks for that website, but thats why I'm worried about getting ripped off, because that just goes over my head and I dont want the sales man to know that and try and get the better of me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You sound like a cool guy Dave, can I call you Dave? Here's a run-down of what you need to know; I'm going to save you, and several other people a lot of time trying to explain stuff to you.

First of all, don't ever pay full price for JL Audio equipment. It is solid product, but way overpriced.

Secondly, do not consider brands like Kicker, Boss, Sony, Rockford Fosgate (for their subs anyways). All of these companies have NOTHING special to offer and will be a waste of your time and money.

Third, you will never need a capacitor for your system, ever. No matter what the guy at the audio shop says. There have been a few thorough analyses of the usefulness of capacitors, and they will no help your system in any capacity(puns all day, son) whatsoever.

Fourth, don't listen to the guys that try to tell you that you need this, that and the other. Especially the ones that tell you to drop 500 dollars for a 1500w amp. You seem like you're trying to have a reasonable amount of lower end fill, and therefore there's no logical reason to run an amp that expensive. They are only telling you this because they think that if they recommend expensive equipment that, by default, they are experts. Get the best bang for you buck you can, without jewing yourself out of a good system.

I don't know what your exact budget is, but for about $500-$600 dollars you can have a respectable sub-stage

I agree with this guy a 110 percent on everything he just said. I dont know what he recomends you buy or look at or think about but i am very happy with audioque products and there customer service. There amps are a little pricey but very nice. You could go with a different brand amp but again stay away from the names that he told you not to buy. Its true.
