I only took a $20,000 loan out to do one of my cars though.

overall ive spent 1700 dollars. Q 12" bp 300, kicker 1000.1 350, Alpine 9885 & iPod cable 300, PG RSD's 110, Alpine PDX 250, wiring 300. This is definately an expensive hobby but i think building computers is more expensive at times.

Man, I almost dont want to think about it. My current competition car has roughly $25000 in gear and install. All my wiring in that one car exceeds $1500. $9000 in amps, $2800 in speakers, $2800 in processing, $1500 in batteries, $10000 install, oh man can I kill myself yet.

For my most current setup, total cost will be about 5 - 6k, and that's not even retail. If it were retail, then I'd say about 10 - 11k.

Total, I'd have to say somewhere in the upper teens, close to and possibly 20k.

I own the equipment and there's only 3 pieces I'm missing right now, DD head unit, processor, and kick pods for my mids. That's probably 1k of what I mentioned. If you'd like to verify, I'll be running Zapco CK 16.2 comps, Zapco CK 9.0 and 4.0 amps. Do the math on just that equipment and look at the costs.

Now tell me who failed. I'm not trying to brag either, I'm just answering the OP's question. I've owned up to about 30 subs, 6 amps, 4 decks and a couple components at one time. I've been into car audio for a bout 6 years, but have been more involved in it for about the past 2 years.
