will a 250 h/o alt 0 gauge going from the alt to the battrie and 6 big deka's in the back be enough for 7000rms? will it hold 14v?
okay thanks for clearing that up for me, then why do some many people run alot of battries my freind has 3 for his 2 18's and he has a iraggi 300 but I hear iraggi's are paperweights....and wear would I find a good quaility 400 amp altnatorYou obviously have a lot to learn about batteries and your car's charging system.
You know there is actual math and science involved in this audio stuff lol not just guessing.
7000 watts x 2 to cover for efficiency = 14k
14k divided by average Alternator voltage output of 14v = 1000
Since you won't be running test tones or burps you can divide that current draw of 1000 by 3 because on music, and not on max volume all the time, you won't be pulling 7k.
Which = 333 amps.
If you don't run at least 333 amps from your alt(s) you will begin to pull energy from your battery which is not good for your battery, alternator, amps, subs and more importantly your wallet..
You need a 400 amp alt, a starter battery under the hood...E.g. Die Hard...Autozone nothing crazy..A battery isolator...and a Series 31 battery for your system.
That is it...
If you will be burping with the car turned off like at a competition...Then you need sufficient battery capacity for the burps.
Well just to ballpark your ampere draw just take the fuse rating of the amp and divide it by 2...For example an amp that calls for a 250a ANL in line fuse will pull roughly 125 amps from the alt..Now that 175 amps is just for the amp...Not for everything else in the whole car, I'de need another stock level or higher alt to power the stock stuff in the car plus other added accessories.okay well I have a 05 escalade with the 6.0 motor the stock alt is 160amp with 90amp at idle and even I had 2 12's with a 300w rms rockford on it and stuff was diming already, would 2 dc 270 amp alt be a good choice for 3 audioque 18 alumium coils,3 2200d amps, and possiably another 1000w amp 4 channel for the door speakers im going to put in....how much is a setup with 2 alt's i no they are about 550$ each so thats 1200$ right there, and would you have any idea If these altnators will fit my new truck which is going to be an 08 tahoe with the 5.3 or are the altnators diffrent or the gm's stayed the same
2200 x 3 + 1000 = 7600 x 2 = 16k / 14v = 1150 / 3 = 383a altokay im looking now iraggi has 380 amp alts for 619$ would 2 of these be good my system the 3 18 with the 3 2200d's and the 1000w for the door speakers?
They are only about 60lbs or so each.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif6 dekas and a tru 250amp alt can feed 7k. Assuming your just going to demo and use it as a DD then your good. Will it stay above 14v who knows every car is different and so is every setup so no one can tell you with 100% positivity what your volts will be.
Just remember 6 dekas are going to be around 600lbs just by themselves so I hope you have upgraded your shocks..
