How much Dynamat Xtreme do I need?

****nn....you tryna deaden a semi or sumthing?
Just a small one:

Just one layer on the inner door panels was enough to deaden a lot of road noise from the outside to the doors. I have an Acura Integra LS, and 2 packages of Dynamat was only enough to deaden the inner door panels with jus a lil left to deaden about half a outer door panel. I would say 3 packages are needed to fully deaden my doors, and my doors are little. Considering each pack costs 90 bucks, thats 270 bucks, not worth it and u are better off looking for something else ( i got a 60 % discount so im not tripping)

I had the inside of my doors sprayed with liquid dynamat stuff, and the skin closest to the cabin covered in a layer of Dynamat Extreme for the front and rear doors.

Looking to sound deaden my car before I install my stereo. I read the sticky about sound deaden post and there is a lot of stuff that I can't do...I only know how to apply dynamat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
If I only use dynamat, will it sufficent? I've read people apply 2 or even 3 layers of dynamat...is that nessescary?

I plan on buying 1 bulk pack and 1 trunk kit.

Here's my set up:

HU: Eclipse CD7000

Sub: ID IDQ 10"

Speakers: Seas Reference Comp.

Amp: helix hxa500 mkII
none get second skin damp pro

Second Skin products are better (have higher tolerances and higher mass/sq ft with Damplifier Pro) than Dynamat Extreme. Dynamat retail prices are ludicrous, but it's easy to get it at much lower prices (but it still ends up overpriced).

Dampening mats are not very complicated. Your main concerns with mats shouild be their heat tolerance, adhesion, and weight. Vibrations will decrease as weight is increased, so you want heavy mat. You also want mat that holds well and will not melt.

Another important thing is to understand the effects of different deadening materials. Dampening mats are used to eliminate vibration, not road noise. Acoustic foam will eliminate road noise (ie. Ensolite from Raamaudio). Acoustic foam can be either open celled or closed celled. Open celled foam generally does a better job eliminating noise, but must be treated to prevent moisture from getting inside of it. Closed cell foams like ensolite will eliminate noise well without any treatment, so they are ideal for cars. If you want to eliminate road noise, you should mat your car and add foam. If you add extra subs, you will find more rattles, and thus need more mats.

What is the diferrence between the ensolite and the Luxury Liner from second skin? Is one better than the other, or are they vey comparable? (The price diferences are crazy!!!)

Overkill from Second Skin is the equivalent of Ensolite I believe. Luxury Liner has different layers of materials, and is probably much thicker. I'm sure it's good, but I have no idea if it's worth the price.

So, I should just buy some ensolite or overkill, and put it on top of my Dynamat extreme, and it should kill the majority of the road noise I hear? Do I need more than 1 layer?

I'd put as much as you can afford (and fit). You'll never kill ALL of the road noise, but it will definitely help. You may also consider covering your wheel wells and hood as engine and tire noise is a large portion of non-highway road noise.

Road noise= not there in my truck. then again, my exhaust cover's the road noise lol. in my old jimmy however i had 9 bulk kits from dynamat, and 2 layers of ensolite from RAAM. that car didn't rattle.
